I want it HARD!

I love tequila. There are so many brands of Tequila out there but my favorite is Patron (at least for now).  I  like the beautiful hand blown glass bottle which is individually numbered and signed by a craftsman. Patron is truly a work of art. There are two main type of tequila: 100 % Blue Agave ( Ex. Patron) and Tequila Mixto(mixed). Mixto Tequila contains minimum of 51 % agave and 49 % from other sugars (Ex. Cuervo Gold).

The aging has a lot to do with the taste and cost of tequila. The longer the aging, the smoother the taste and the more expensive like a fine whiskey or brandy.  Make note of how the bottle is labeled:

Blanco (Silver) – Tequila in it’s purest form.  No aging, clear in color. More of the “bitey” agave taste.  Some cheap tequilas are labeled “Gold” because of added coloring and sugars to imitate attributes of aged tequila.

Reposado  -  aged for at least 2 months to 11 months. Light straw color, mellow taste.

Anejo – aged for a minimum of one year maximum of 3 years. Amber color, smoother, richer and complex flavor. Most expensive of the three.

The really expensive ones are called ultra anejos which are aged longer than anejos. In the Patron family it’s called Gran Patron (also known as Platinum).

Alcohol relieves stress –  in moderation, that is.  I drink occasionally. I drink what I’m in the mood for. To get a good night’s sleep I drink a glass of red wine. When I’m stressed  I take a shot of Vodka.  When I’m about to get my period I drink beer to ease menstrual cramps. Champagne if I want to get into the holiday spirit. When I’m aroused and in the mood for hot passion - I want it hard… I drink Patron.
